From April 2020, Child Benefit Borrowers will be able to top up their loan by £250 after three months and after a further three months, a further £250. Commitment to savings will remain and as usual, savings may not be withdrawn while you have an outstanding loan.
The strength of the communities that we live in relies heavily on the members’ ability that live there to access finances when unexpected disasters arise.
This is sometimes referred to as resilience or the ability to recover quickly.
Members of Hertsavers, when faced with a financial challenge, are more likely to be able to access money from their savings or by taking a credit union loan than those people who are living in an area with no access to affordable credit.
The more people that join the credit union, the bigger we get and the better the service that we can provide for our members. So, don’t be shy, tell your friends about Hertsavers and let’s make it grow as our community does.
Our Annual General Meeting takes place on Thursday, 19 March 2020 at 6.30 pm for refreshments with a 7 pm start. All members and supporters of the Hertsavers Credit Union are welcome to attend. It takes places at Oxlease House, Travellers Lane, Hatfield, AL10 8SG. There is free parking available at the leisure centre next door.
The Minutes of the AGM 2019 will be available soon.

Happy International Credit Union Day!
18th October 2018
It’s International Credit Union Day! Today’s the day we celebrate the spirit of the global credit union movement. We also had another reason to celebrate; it was the 70th Anniversary of International Credit Union Day! This year, we thought of a great way to celebrate the good that credit unions around the world are doing; by hearing what our members have to say (yes, you). We asked you to send in some stories of how the credit union has helped you. From the responses, we’ve picked a few of our favourites:
“I tend to borrow the CHB loan around Christmas time, as it allows me to be able to buy the things my son and I need to have a sort of normal Christmas feeling you can say it’s easy to apply not a great deal of hassle and the staff I have been in contact with throughout the years have always displayed excellent customer service. Not to mention often very reassuring. Christmas has never been a happy time for me and my son as I lost my mum around that time of the year to an illness only to be diagnosed with the same. But being able to access a credit union loan whilst also saving just takes one less stress away. So thank you x”
“I’m so immensely blessed and grateful to have discovered the credit union. They have helped myself and 2 young kids I have so much. Whenever I needed help I got help from the credit union. My heart is so thankful to them. The team are always so nice kind and helpful. I’m glad to be a part of the credit union. Thank you so much.”
“The Credit Union has helped me get back on track with my finances by supplying me with a platform to save and borrow. Accessing money was a much more relaxing experience than visiting the banks.”
“Credit union have been absolutely helpful to me and my son, especially as my son was starting college in September. Credit Union assisted us with the child benefit loan.”
“The credit union is great they were there when I needed them.”
Hearing stories like this remind us of why we do what we do. Whether you just joined or have been with us from the beginning, thank you for being a member of HertSavers Credit Union. Here’s to another 70 years!

Applying for a loan
26th April 2018
Want to apply for a credit union loan? Then we recommend visiting the members’ area on our website. We’ve made a few revisions to the loan application form so that the questions more or less match those on the printed form and will take no longer than 20 minutes to complete. If you make a mistake whilst filling in the form, there’s no need to re-enter all the information. The form will remember what you entered the first time after an initial prompt. You can also type your name in the signature box now – no need for an actual written one. Have a copy of the printed form handy so you can see what information you have to provide.
If you need cash for a holiday, a new washing machine or even a car, don’t get tempted by those TV ads that promise easy money. You’ll always get a much lower interest rate from your credit union.
