Key worker loans now launched

At Hertsavers, we believe in building a community and appreciate all the effort, dedication and hard work that has been carried out by our key workers.

To express our gratitude, we have introduced a new loan, the Key Worker Loan, for all key workers including NHS, Council, Emergency and School staff.

The Key Worker Loans of £1,000 is repayable over up to 60 months at just 0.5% per month interest (6.3% APR). Loans are subject to affordability and credit checks.

New key worker members joining and saving through a standing order, will be restricted to loans of £1,000.

Key Worker Loans may be added to existing loans providing affordability checks are satisfied. Any combined loan will attract the new loan rate of 0.5% (6.3% APR).

Take advantage of a loan top-up

From April 2020, Child Benefit Borrowers will be able to top up their loan by £250 after three months and after a further three months, a further £250. Commitment to savings will remain and as usual, savings may not be withdrawn while you have an outstanding loan.

If you want to top up your loan, please email us on admin@cus.coop.

Member referrals for Child Benefit borrowers

Members that refer a new member to Hertsavers for a Child Benefit Loan can now claim a £50 referral bonus for themselves and the new member will also receive a £50 bonus as well.

Our Child Benefit Loan service is the most popular loan that we have and last year we loaned out almost £500,000 to our members. This year we are already on target intended to significantly beat that.

You can help by referring your friends that are in receipt of Child Benefit who need a loan. All that they need to do is put your name on their application form in the box labelled “Promo Code”.

As soon as we pay their loan, £50 will be added to both of your accounts with the credit union. Neither payment can be withdrawn for six months by which time they will be ready for their next loan.

Child Benefit Forms are available from the website.

Terms and Conditions apply.

Build your community

The strength of the communities that we live in relies heavily on the members’ ability that live there to access finances when unexpected disasters arise.

This is sometimes referred to as resilience or the ability to recover quickly.

Members of Hertsavers, when faced with a financial challenge, are more likely to be able to access money from their savings or by taking a credit union loan than those people who are living in an area with no access to affordable credit.

The more people that join the credit union, the bigger we get and the better the service that we can provide for our members. So, don’t be shy, tell your friends about Hertsavers and let’s make it grow as our community does.

Happy International Credit Union Day!

It’s International Credit Union Day! Today’s the day we celebrate the spirit of the global credit union movement. We also had another reason to celebrate; it was the 70th Anniversary of International Credit Union Day! This year, we thought of a great way to celebrate the good that credit unions around the world are doing; by hearing what our members have to say (yes, you). We asked you to send in some stories of how the credit union has helped you. From the responses, we’ve picked a few of our favourites:

“I tend to borrow the CHB loan around Christmas time, as it allows me to be able to buy the things my son and I need to have a sort of normal Christmas feeling you can say it’s easy to apply not a great deal of hassle and the staff I have been in contact with throughout the years have always displayed excellent customer service. Not to mention often very reassuring. Christmas has never been a happy time for me and my son as I lost my mum around that time of the year to an illness only to be diagnosed with the same. But being able to access a credit union loan whilst also saving just takes one less stress away. So thank you x”

“I’m so immensely blessed and grateful to have discovered the credit union. They have helped myself and 2 young kids I have so much. Whenever I needed help I got help from the credit union. My heart is so thankful to them. The team are always so nice kind and helpful. I’m glad to be a part of the credit union. Thank you so much.”

“The Credit Union has helped me get back on track with my finances by supplying me with a platform to save and borrow. Accessing money was a much more relaxing experience than visiting the banks.”

“Credit union have been absolutely helpful to me and my son, especially as my son was starting college in September. Credit Union assisted us with the child benefit loan.”

“The credit union is great they were there when I needed them.”

Hearing stories like this remind us of why we do what we do. Whether you just joined or have been with us from the beginning, thank you for being a member of HertSavers Credit Union. Here’s to another 70 years!
